Hosted by the Australian Institute of Management (AIM), the second AAMO Council Meeting of 2016 and 5th AGM was held in Brisbane, Australia from the 18th – 20th October 2016.

Delegates arrived from Malaysia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macau and India at the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) offices in Brisbane.

During this meeting the official handover of the AAMO Presidency took place. The Presidency was taken over by MIM effectively on 19 October 2016. Newly appointed AAMO President and present MIM Chairman, Dato’ Ng Tieh Chuan, expressed his thanks to all members and his hopes to further improve upon the work carried out by the Australian Institute of Management while MIM holds the Presidency for the next three years.

Other matters that were discussed at the meeting included the creation of an international member category to increase global connectivity between members from different organisations within the region, proposals for further activities to take place under the auspices of AAMO in 2017, ideas for future regional events and conferences to be organised as well as taking note of the successful collaborations that have resulted between the members through its partnership under AAMO.

In addition to the AAMO meeting programme, delegates were invited to attend the AIM Leadership Excellence Awards (ALEAs). It was an inspiring event which showcased individuals from Australia who have made significant contributions and positive impact in their workplace, community or institution.

The three day programme closed with a tour of Australia’s sunny Gold Coast. Delegates were taken to the top of Skypoint tower for morning tea paired with a breathtaking view, a visit to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to mingle with the Koala's, a quick stop at Surfer’s Paradise and lunch at the Marriot Resort and Spa.
